Coronation Street – Sally Carman hints at Abi plot ending

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street star Sally Carman has dropped another hint that her character Abi Webster’s storyline will have a happy outcome.

Abi has spent the past few weeks fighting for custody of her baby son Alfie, facing plenty of obstacles along the way.

In Friday’s (June 17) episode of the show, Abi was granted permission to look after Alfie under close observation in a mother and baby fostering unit.

Returning character Wendy Crozier – now known as Wendy Papadopoulos – was appointed as the foster carer who’ll be keeping an eye on Abi in the next few weeks.

Speaking to Digital Spy on the red carpet at the British Soap Awards, Sally teased that life could start looking up for Abi soon.

She told us: “The brilliant thing about the producers is that unless you actually specifically ask [what’s coming up]they don’t tell you.

“I never ask because I can’t hold my own water, so the less I know, the better! Or else I’d just be telling you everything – which might be good for you, not so good for me.

“So I actually don’t know, but I know that it’s gone quite quiet script-wise, so I’m guessing that she’s going to be happy for a bit. Which suits me fine!”

She continued: “I’ve had so many big storylines, I think people need a break. So I’m quite happy to take a back seat for a bit.”

Sally also paid tribute to Charlie de Melo, who recently had a tragic exit storyline in his role as Alfie’s father Imran Habeeb.

Speaking about Charlie’s departure, Sally added: “I was gutted, because I love Charlie and he’s so brilliant. And he’s very nice to look at! But he wanted to do other things, and of course, so he should. I just wish him all the luck in the world. “

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
